Odd to see these early videos and remember that I used my "good" leg to lift and maneuver my broken leg. I was using my wrap in the hospital the day after surgery. I used it to manipulate "primal swimming" while in bed. I did just the hint of the core mechanics. I also used it as resistance, to push against a "wall".
That day, I was also up and walking with a walker. The next day, crutches and stairs.
June was a cold rainy month. I wore that sweatshirt, scarf and at times, my fleece too.
I could easily do "Pum Pums." Standing on both feet was not total weight-bearing on the broken leg as it would be in walking.
I also remember when I could turn over on each side. Pressure in either direction needed to be groomed slowly. Lying on my stomach- well that was real recovery for me. That happened while in Delaware in mid July!
Since 2001 I have worked closely with Ruthy Alon, internationally recognized Educator/Trainer of the Feldenkrais Method, author and creator of the Bones for Life® program. I am also a founding board member of the the Foundation for Movement Intelligence where I serve as VP and acting treasurer. I am a certified Bones for Life Trainer and Feldenkrais practitioner. I currently travel and teach "immersion style" programs to the public and for teacher certification.
The intention of this blog is to share the brilliance of the Bones for Life® program as an efficient bed-rest protocol for orthopedic rehabilitation.
